Model Predictive Energy-Maximising Tracking Control for a Wavestar-Prototype Wave Energy Converter

To date, one of the main challenges in wave energy field is to achieve energy-maximizing control order reduce levelized cost (LCOE). This paper presents a model predictive velocity tracking method based on hierarchical structure for Wavestar-like deivce WEC-SIM benchmark. The first part system aims estimate excitation moment (WEM) by using Kalman filter. Then, an extended filter (EKF) chosen obtain amplitude and angular frequency WEM compute reference velocity. Following this, low-level (MPC) designed ensure converter (WEC) tracks optimal maximum extraction from irregular waves. Two Gaussian Process (GP) models are considered predict future velocity, which needed MPC design. proposed strategy can give new vision MPC.
